Days Recap Today
Everett is reading his first article at The Spectator while Xander calls Sarah to inquire about Maggie's health. Sarah informs him that Maggie is doing much better and they are moving forward with the custody hearing. Sarah asks Xander if he is willing to let Eric testify that she is an unfit parent. Xander responds that he will not stop fighting for his daughter and reminds Sarah that it's her fault because she concealed the fact that Victoria is his daughter. Sarah expresses her disinterest in co-parenting and tells Xander that she doesn't want him in her life or Victoria's. Xander then tells her that he will see her in court and Sarah hangs up the phone angrily. Maggie walks in and realizes that the phone conversation was about Xander. Sarah asks Maggie to watch Victoria while she goes to the hospital for an early shift and then to court. Maggie agrees, although she was supposed to go Christmas shopping, but she can use some help with ideas for Konstantin's gift. Sarah wonders if Konstantin is planning to stay through Christmas, but Maggie has no idea. Sarah also expresses her concern about her mother getting too close to Konstantin too fast, as Konstantin overhears the conversation from the hallway. Sarah advises her mother to be careful, but Maggie tells her to mind her own business. Finally, Sarah apologizes to Maggie for overstepping.
Later, Xander approaches Everett and asks him about turning off the comments on the article about Leo Stark. Everett explains that he had turned off the comments section because some readers had strong opinions that were not respectful. Xander appreciates his decision and congratulates him, noting that the number of views and clicks has increased significantly and he is glad he hired him. Everett is grateful to have a job, but Xander wonders if he still feels the same way after learning that the company's future is uncertain. Although Everett is caught off guard by the company's financial problems, he is pleased that he has hired the best PR firm in town, and Stephanie has delivered excellent results for him. Later, Chad approaches Xander and asks to buy his half of the Spectator, but Xander declines his offer. If he ever decides to sell, Chad would have to keep Everett on board. Xander suspects that Chad wants to get rid of Everett because he hired his girlfriend, and Chad is unhappy about this.
Everett runs into Stephanie at the Pub and takes the opportunity to thank her for her brilliant PR strategy. She is pleased that someone appreciates her work and goes on to explain why Chad is upset about the piece in The Spectator due to his troubled history with Leo. Stephanie introduces Everett to Alex and tells him that Everett is the new editor-in-chief at The Spectator. Alex later realizes that Everett is the guy who ghosted Stephanie. Alex advises him that Chad may not like Stephanie spending time with her ex. Everett discovers that Stephanie had been in a relationship with Alex before dating Chad, and he comments that she has been around. Nevertheless, he doesn't mean any disrespect by it.
Theresa calls her mother to inform her that she will be running the magazine. While she is on the phone, Konstantin arrives and threatens to expose Theresa's lies to Alex. Konstantin insists that he will obtain the other half of Victor's fortune. He reveals that he and Maggie have grown close, but he overheard Maggie's daughter trying to turn her against him. Konstantin has a plan to gain Sarah's trust and demands Theresa's assistance; otherwise, he will expose her. Later, while Maggie is taking care of Victoria, Konstantin brings her flowers. Maggie declines the flowers, but Konstantin insists that they are for Victor and suggests that she take them to the mausoleum to visit him. He also offers to look after Victoria while she is there. When Maggie is gone, Theresa is dressed in a pullover and Konstantin tells her that she made her bed and now she knows what she has to do. He demands that she take the baby.
John is at home studying the family tree when Steve shows up for a visit. Steve admires the present and learns that it was an anniversary gift from the children. John is delighted to be able to reflect on everything he and Marlena have built together. John suggests that they take the girls on a nice weekend since things are quiet on the Black Patch front. Steve thinks they have a new case to investigate--Maggie's new friend. John plays the devil's advocate and wonders if Konstantin can be trusted. Later, John and Steve agree to travel to Greece to uncover the truth.
