The Young and the Restless Recap for Today, November 17, 2023:
What happened today on The Young and the Restless: Nikki is backed into a corner, Daniel and Heather discuss their new dynamic, and Nina encourages Chance to start a new chapter.
Y&R Recap Today
They discuss Chance's recent shooting and Summer confirms that he is recovering well. Daniel suggests that Chance may have feelings for Summer, but she insists they are just friends. They change the subject to his love life, but Daniel refuses to discuss it. Heather and Lucy arrive, bringing pineapple and wine. Heather shares that she has an interview for a position on Chancellor Winters' legal team, and thanks Daniel for helping her get it. Daniel tells her to thank Lily, and he is confident that Heather will do well in the interview and get the job.
Summer says she has to take off. Heather wonders if she is leaving because of her, but Summer says no.
Lucy leaves to go see her room while Heather notes to Daniel that Summer seems pretty curious about their dynamic. Daniel notes that while Summer doesn't think it was Heather's fault, she is worried that Heather moving back to town could drench up his old demons. Heather tells him that she likes who is now very, very much.
Y&R Recap Today
At Crimson Lights, Sharon is chatting with Tessa and Mariah about how Aria is adjusting to her new hearing aids. The girls are thrilled with the progress she’s made. Sharon is taken aback that they didn’t even video call her. Mariah promises to do that later because Sharon has an unexpected visitor. As Sharon turns around, she sees Chance. Sharon is happy to see him. Tessa offers to get him a more stylish sling while Mariah inquires about the shooter. Before he can answer, Nina walks in and says she received a text to meet him there. She asks why he didn't let her pick him up at the hospital. He says because he could handle it.
As everyone sits down, Chance mentions that he's considering a career change, but he's not sure if he's ready to make that decision yet. His mother suggests that he's been defending the public for so many years, and maybe it's time to move on. However, Chance points out that he's just been appointed as Chief of Police, and he's not sure if walking away is the best move right now. He would appreciate Sharon's opinion on the matter. Tessa and Mariah decide to give them some privacy to talk. Chance mentions that he's hungry, as he didn't get to eat much at the hospital. He offers to take his two favorite ladies out for breakfast.
They go over to Society, where Abby greets Chance and expresses her joy at seeing him out of the hospital. Chance thanks her for visiting him during his stay and notes that he was a little groggy at the time. Abby promises to arrange a visit with Dominic when Chance is ready. Abby offers to treat them to breakfast. Nina invites Abby to take a break and join them, and Abby agrees.
Nina asks Abby how she would feel if Chance was to quit law enforcement and choose a different career. Chance pleads with his mother not to put Abby on the spot. Abby says it's okay and reflects on what happened with him in Spain. She explains that just because they're not together doesn't mean she's stopped caring about him. Abby notes that if Chance decides to walk away from law enforcement, she supports it. They discuss what Chance would do if he quit, and suggestions are made for him to enter the business world. Summer arrives and joyfully exclaims that Chance is out of the hospital. Later, Abby confronts Summer about her feelings for Chance.
Y&R Recap Today
Jill asks Lily if Nate told her why he wanted to meet. Lily replies that he hasn't. Jill is eager to find out what it is all about. Later, Nate arrives with Mamie. Jill is puzzled as to why Mamie is there, and Mamie confirms that Nate has asked her for moral support. Jill informs Mamie that there is something they need to discuss, but now is not the right time or place. Mamie replies that she is looking forward to the conversation.
Nate approaches Devon and Lily with an apology, expressing his desire to return to Chancellor Winters. Although they are not surprised by his request, they question why he would want to leave Newman, where he previously claimed to be happy. They wonder if he caused the same problems there that he had caused with them. Nate explains that it depends on who you ask and proceeds to detail what happened at Newman. Nate explains that he was only tried to help Victor, but it backfired.
Lily suggests that Nate's desire to return to Chancellor Winters is only because he is now out of a job, but Mamie argues that it is about bringing him back into the family where he belongs. Jill asks why they should consider bringing him back, and Nate responds by saying that he has learned a lot from his past mistakes and is now more flexible. He promises to be the best man for the job and a proper cousin to Lily and Devon. Nate also claims to have kept up with the company's current affairs and believes he could be useful in various areas.
Jill agrees to discuss the matter and make a decision, and Nate and Mamie leave. Devon and Lily are willing to consider giving Nate another chance, provided he is honest with them. Lily then informs Devon that Tucker and Mamie are colluding.
Claire brushes Nikki's hair while she is asleep. She tells Nikki to stay calm until everyone arrives for the big family reunion. Claire admits she's not surprised that Nikki tried to escape, and acknowledges how vulnerable Nikki must feel at the moment, but promises that Aunt Jordan will explain everything. Claire believes that if she tries to explain, she will get too emotional. After setting things in motion, Claire encourages Nikki to enjoy her sweet dreams before leaving.
Nikki wakes up and finds a bottle of alcohol by her bedside. She realizes that she cannot stay there and must find her phone to call Victor. Nikki pulls out the IV and checks around, and then she realizes that she has been drugged. Meanwhile, downstairs, Claire stares into the mirror, and her Aunt Jordan comes out and tells her not to get soft when they are so close.
